Volodymyr Tkachenko was born on June 24, 1959 in Kyiv, Ukraine. He studied music from the age of four
and began composing at ten. In 1985, he graduated from the Kyiv State Tchaikovsky Conservatory where
he majored in composition.

Mr. Tkachenko started his professional career as an instructor teaching piano, theory and composition at
various music schools in Kyiv. He worked as consultant of instrumental genres at the Music Society of
Ukraine. Establishing himself as a lecturer-musicologist, he also gave presentations discussing topics in
music history at the school concerts organized by the Kyiv Philharmonic. As a performer, he appeared
on radio and at art venues where he played concert improvisations.

In 1994, Mr. Tkachenko emigrated to New York City where he currently resides. His work includes
compositions for piano, chamber ensemble, children, choir, theater and film.
